The article examines the evolution of the constitutional and legal status of the Russian language in the Russian Federation in the context of the 2020 amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which granted the Russian language the status of the language of the state-forming people. Based on the conducted research, the author argues that granting the Russian language a special status does not contradict the principles of equality of the languages of the peoples of Russia, but rather serves to strengthen the legal and cultural unity of the multinational state.

В статье рассматривается эволюция конституционно-правового статуса русского языка в Российской Федерации в контексте поправок к Конституции РФ 2020 года, закрепивших за ним статус языка государствообразующего народа. На основе проведенного исследования автор обосновывает, что наделение русского языка особым статусом не противоречит принципам равенства языков народов России, а служит укреплению правового и культурного единства многонационального государства.
